What Makes this Website Different?

Although there are thousands of personal finance blogs and websites, Odd Cents is just different. We try to keep our information around the main topics of spending and saving, which pretty much encompasses everything in the finance world.

How Did Odd Cents Get Started?

Back in 2011, I came up with the idea for a personal finance blog. I had never heard of any independent personal finance blogs in the Caribbean, and the timing was absolutely perfect. Back then, the financial world was in absolute turmoil and people were suffering from lost jobs, failed investments and downgraded asset values. I launched Odd Cents in an effort to help at least once person who needed free advice to get their life together.

Where Did The idea to Blog Come From?

I am a writer and I love to write. And because of my love for writing, I can write anything about anything. I was also (still am) knowledgeable about personal finance and had a story to tell about my path to financial fitness. Blogging was a natural fit and I’ve been writing since then. Because of my experience with Odd Cents, I also write about Caribbean travel; climate change and disaster management; online education and Caribbean architecture.

Where do I Find my Creative Inspiration?

People. There is this beautiful website that just focuses on people. It looks at their perspectives on the good and bad events, the sad and happy moments and the big and small moments in their lives. I write for people, so I write about people.

What is my Background?

I completed an undergraduate degree in Economics and Management, a graduate degree in Business Administration, a diploma in Accounting and Business and the Project Management Professional certification. I also have a crush on architecture, building restorations and interior design.
